Numeracy

Here are some numeracy activities that we will be doing for this topic:

Cut the puzzle in strips and have the children rearrange the puzzle by using the number to guide them in the process. This will teach number recognition and sequence.

Have the children place a bunch of germs on the hand paper. Count the number of germs there are. Look for that number from the number cards, 1 to 20 and place the corresponding number in the box.

Ask the children to count how many germs there are in the picture and then they will use a peg and clip it to the correct number value.

4. Sensory Germ Bag

Ask the children to trace their hand on an A4 paper. Fill a bag with gel/water and put pompoms inside. Put the bag on the paper and have the children count how many germs are on their hands. Remove and clean the germs with a toothbrush.

5. Glove number counting

Fill two gloves with water. Have the child roll a dice and close that number of glove fingers from the gloves. You can try to add both numbers from the dice and see if they correspond to the number of fingers that are closed. However this is a harder part of the activity. You can also ask what is one less than the number shown and represent this by re-opening one glove finger.

Print this paper and have the children put a finger print with paint on the columns according to the umber value at the bottom on the column.

7. Finish The Pattern

Play the online game about making patterns. Then print the worksheet. Have the children colour all the triangle in one colour and all the circles in another colour. Then the children will need to cut out the shapes, and stick them to the boxes below in a pattern, one circle and one triangle, one circle then one triangle. You can make it a little more challenging up by putting two circles and one triangle, two circles and one triangle.
